Elizabeth E. Burke, D.V.M.
A native of Easton, Dr. Burke received an Associate degree in Life Science from Northampton Community College, Bethlehem, PA, a Bachelors degree in Animal Science from Cornell University and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University. She worked for five years as both a lab technician and a pharmaceutical sales representative for Pfizer Health prior to veterinary school. Dr. Burke completed her internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the The Animal Medical Center, New York, NY. She was employed as a staff veterinarian at North Shore Animal League, Port Washington, NY for two years.
Thoreau Veterinary Hospital, Inc. was founded by Dr. Burke in December, 1988. AAHA certification was awarded in 1993. After practicing in the city of Easton for thirteen years, the hospital was relocated to its present location in 2001. Dr. Burke is married and has twin girls and two feline companions.
Amy Marks, V.M.D.
Dr. Amy Marks joined the practice in January 2015. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree at Ursinus College. Dr. Marks received her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. She has enjoyed working in general practice small animal medicine since that time. Dr. Marks lives with her husband and their three rescued cats. In her spare time, she enjoys flower gardening
Stacie is a Certified Veterinary Technician. She graduated from Northampton Community College in 1999 with an Associate’s degree in General Studies and Veterinary Technology. She is a member of NAVTA (National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America), LVVMA (Lehigh Valley Veterinary Medical Association) and AVDS (American Veterinary Dental Society). When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, children and two cats.
Larry has been a Certified Veterinary Technician since 2007 and he has been with Thoreau Veterinary Hospital since 2010. He also practices as an herbalist for Dr. Burke and her clients, drawing from his training at the Center for Herbal Studies in the use of Ayurvedic, Chinese, Native American, European and Middle Eastern plant-based medicines.
Mary moved to the Lehigh Valley from New Hampshire in January 2013. She has been a technician since 2001 when she received her certification in Minnesota. Her favorite part of her job is educating clients; making sure they are well informed to make the best decisions for their pets. In her off time she enjoys spending time with her husband Jeremy and her retired racing greyhound Carter. She also enjoys crafting, baking and exploring the area.
